One 14-year-old youth was found dead just days after being wrongly accused of stealing the cremated remains of a deceased infant during a break-in, an inquest has heard.
The young boy's mother and father discovered his body in his bedroom at his Flintshire home on November 19th, 2021.
The investigation learned how his mother got a communication on November 8th, 2021 via online platforms, from a woman inquiring if her son was her child. The communication stated: "Inform him thanks for burgling my apartment."
In a statement presented to the proceedings, Lisa Lloyd said the individual had been in the news, claiming her baby's remains had been taken in a break-in - a allegation which was untrue.
An investigation report from authorities later concluded the supposed break-in complainant had "provided false information" and "evidence shows that said items was not taken in the first place".
Media reports about the supposed taken remains generated social media comments, and although the teenager was not named in the posts, his parent said individuals "understood it was him".
The "social media content were really upsetting", she said.
She explained that Kai had been diagnosed with mild ADHD, and as part of that condition, other peoples' opinions genuinely were important to him.
"It would have hurt him deeply," she commented, "especially when this was untrue".
Kai was arrested at home, but nothing was found. He was transported to a law enforcement facility and later released pending further inquiry.
Authorities said they would be in touch, the inquest heard, but had not reached out to the relatives by the moment of his passing.
His mother said Kai "became isolated" after the arrest and "repeatedly inquired me whether I had heard anything from the police", because his condition meant sometimes "certain periods could feel like much longer".
When she talked to him about the alleged burglary, she said her child informed her he had gone into the house because the resident who lived there had said he could use the toilet whenever he needed, but denied removing anything.
In a joint statement between her and her spouse, Mrs Lloyd said her child was being harassed online after the accusations.
The proceedings heard that a 19-year-old urged Kai to end his life.
She had no worries on the night before he died, describing how she had heard him "chuckling and joking".
She portrayed him as a "caring, loving" boy, and said her "relatives is completely devastated".
He had been "clearly concealing his worries", she stated, noting that he could not stand to have anybody "have negative thoughts of him".
The hearing received testimony from school personnel at Connah's Quay High School.
On November 8th, she "heard some boys talking that the student had been arrested and that was the first I learned".
"He informed me... he'd done nothing wrong," she added.
After the discussion, the educator said she called the family's family landline and provided a message saying she had spoken to Kai about the allegations.
The proceedings learned his parents said they did not receive that message.
Senior coroner informed the hearing he would await reports regarding what enhancements had been made to handling suspects with ADHD, before determining whether he should make a avoidance of subsequent deaths report.
Delivering a descriptive finding, he said: "Around November 8th, 2021, unsubstantiated accusations were made against the teenager, a 14-year-old child.
"Likely untruths were afterwards embellished and exaggerated through the medium of online networks.
"During 11 November, he was interviewed by the police and following his questioning he was released while inquiries proceeded."
The coroner determined: "There is no evidence that the acts or omissions of any agency led to or added to his passing and although it was the result of a personal action it is impossible to determine his intent."
